How To Create Watercolor Die-Cut Images

It’s mid week already and I haven’t even come on here… I’m enjoying this time at home with family, friends and my little stamping community. The weather might be a little bit chilly but I love that bright white coat of snow and the sun feels so good. I’ve taken the time to take down some holiday decor and even added a touch of spring in the house. I know, it’s only January but I love home decor…

I would like to share with you one of my favourite techniques… how to create watercolor die-cut images that I featured for my first Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design Creative Project.

Create Watercolor Die-Cut Images Featuring the Beautiful Bokeh Suite Collection

The Beautiful Bokeh Suite Collection is on page 38 and 39 of the January to April Mini Catalogue. It includes many products that you can order as a Suite or individually:

I am sharing the color combination that I have used but keep in mind that you can do the Watercolor Die-Cut Images in the color of your choice.

Color Combination:

Balmy Blue

Berry Burst

Fresh Freesia

Step 1:

Use Stampin’ Up! Basic White Thick Cardstock or Watercolor Paper, Balmy Blue, Berry Burst, Fresh Freesia Inks, and a Blending Brush. In a circular motion, add the three ink colors to the cardstock. Note: shades of ink can vary from light to dark depending on the amount of ink added.

Step 2:
Use Stampin’Up!’s Water Painters to add specs of water to the inked Basic White Thick Cardstock. To make multiple tiny specs of water, flick the tip of the water painter brush with the brush cap.

Step 3:
Let the inked cardstock dry or use Stampin’ Up!’s Heat Tool to dry the cardstock more quickly. Die cut colorful butterflies using the Beautiful Butterflies Dies.
