Now with my big updates….

For those who have followed along for a while, you know that I stepped away from nursing so I could be with my husband in Saskatchewan, Canada. That was a big life adjustment for me. After so many years of nursing, it was strange — and honestly, sometimes difficult — to step away from that part of my life.

Now, life is changing again!

My husband has promoted and accepted a position somewhere else in the province, which means we have a move ahead of us again. So we’re navigating another big transition as we figure out where he will be living while away from home, what our new routine will look like, and how all the pieces will fit together.

And in the middle of all of that, when the opportunity came along in July to take a one-year contract as a nurse, I decided to say yes. ( that was before I knew Chris was transferring 7 hrs away…)

It has definitely brought another change to our lives. I’m currently navigating a three-hour commute every day, which has taken some getting used to!

But you know what? I’m actually really happy about it.

One of the biggest positives has been having the opportunity to serve again. I truly love helping people, making a difference, and hopefully making someone’s day just a little bit better. There’s something incredibly rewarding about being able to use that part of myself again.

So, while there are definitely a lot of moving parts right now, I’m trying to embrace this season and look at it as a new adventure.

And Then There’s Riley… 🐾❤️

Of course, I’m not the only one who has had to adjust to this new routine.  My sweet golden retriever, Riley, has had to adapt too.  And let’s just say… she misses her mommy tremendously! 🥹  She was very used to having me around, so suddenly having Mom gone for long days has been a big adjustment for her. We knew we couldn’t have her spending those long days alone, so we also hired someone to come and spend time with her during the day until I get home.  It has made such a difference knowing that she has someone there to give her some attention, love and company while I’m away.  And now, with a move also on the horizon, Riley is going to have another adjustment ahead of her, she doesn’t like change. Thankfully, she has a very loving family — and plenty of people who are happy to spoil her!

Between the commute, a new work schedule, a move, crafting and everything else happening, we’re definitely figuring out our new rhythm as a family.

And while it hasn’t always been easy, we’re making it work — one day at a time.

I Hired a Helper! 🎉

If you know me, you know I’m someone who tends to try to do everything myself. So hiring someone to come into my studio once a week was a big step for me.

And let me tell you… it has been a game changer!

She has been helping me sort, organize and completely revamp my studio. We are tackling all those projects that have been sitting on my “one day I’ll get to that” list.

Yesterday, I even made a trip to IKEA and picked up some new pieces for the studio. I’m so excited to see it all come together!  If you have any favourite IKEA pieces or organization solutions that you absolutely love for your craft room, I’d love to hear your recommendations! I’m always looking for ways to make my space more functional and, of course, pretty.

All this organizing has also meant that we are finally tackling my mountain of retired Stampin’ Up! products.  And when I say mountain… I mean MOUNTAIN! 😂

We’ve been sorting through retired stamps, bundles, punches and so much more, and I’m hoping to start adding them to my online storefront. The Embossing Folders are already online.  Next coming will be retired bundles that include a punch. We’ve already sorted those out and they’re ready to be photographed and listed.

We also tackled all of my single stamp sets that don’t have coordinating dies.  There are about 200 stamp sets!  So my goal is to get those listed on my storefront as well, making it much easier for you to shop through all the retired goodies.

It’s definitely a work in progress, but having some help has made such a huge difference.

Catching Up Behind the Scenes

There’s also been a little bit of catching up happening on the creative side.

I had an unexpected incident involving my left eye that required me to seek medical assistance multiple times and, unfortunately, meant no crafting for a little while. As you can imagine, that put me a bit behind on my creativity…. I had quite a few projects to catch up on, and having that added to everything else on my to-do list definitely made things interesting!  But I’m very happy to say that I’m caught up now!  The projects are done, and I’m so excited that I’ll finally be able to start sharing them with you. I can’t wait for you to see what I’ve been creating for the Artisan Design Team!  It feels so good to have that big item checked off my list.

October In Person Retreat ❤️

I’m also feeling incredibly grateful because my in-person October crafting retreat is SOLD OUT!

I truly feel so blessed to have such an amazing group of crafters joining me for the weekend.

Because I know not everyone can attend in person, I’ll also be offering 20 kits to go. I’m limiting it to 20 because, with everything else going on, that’s the number I feel I can realistically manage and still make sure everyone gets the same care and attention.

Neutral Noel Is Coming!

And then there’s the Neutral Noel Virtual Retreat, which is coming soon!  So many of you have already purchased the Gold and Silver packages, and I just want to reassure you — do not fret!  I’ll be placing the product order on September 1st, the very first day of the launch, so that we can make sure we have enough product for everyone.  I fear this collection is going to sell fast…

And if you’re joining us from anywhere around the world, you can still purchase the PDF option, so you can craft along no matter where you are.  You can find details HERE

Today’s Card

Today I’m sharing one of the cards I made using the Neutral Noel collection.  This card is actually a case from the catalog and is not one of the projects included in the actual retreat.  I’m hoping to hop on a LIVE to show you how I made it, along with some of the other projects I’ve been working on.  So stay tuned!

Color Combination Used:

There is a LOT happening behind the scenes right now — nursing, commuting, preparing for a move, making sure Riley gets some extra love and attention, organizing my studio, IKEA trips, retired product sales, Artisan Design Team projects, retreats and, of course, lots and lots of crafting.

It’s definitely a busy season of life, but it’s also an exciting one.  And maybe the biggest lesson I’m learning through all of this is that sometimes a change in direction can be a really good thing.  Stepping away from nursing was a huge adjustment for me, and now stepping back into it for this one-year contract has reminded me just how much I enjoy serving others.  Our upcoming move is another big change, but I’m choosing to look at it as a new chapter rather than something to be overwhelmed by.

At the same time, having help in my studio has reminded me that I don’t have to carry everything on my own. And having someone help care for Riley has made this new routine a little easier for both of us.

I’m learning to embrace the changes, enjoy the season I’m in, and make room for all the different parts of my life — serving others, loving my family, getting Riley the extra love and creating beautiful things.

There’s a lot happening, but there’s also a lot to be grateful for.

And for that, I’m incredibly grateful. ❤️

Thank you for continuing to follow along, support my little creative business, join my retreats and classes, and share in my love of paper crafting.

I can’t wait to show you what’s coming next!

Happy crafting,

Kim
